Victim-Carl Edward Thornton
One of the lost boys from the fire at the Negro Boys Industrial School
Carl Edward Thornton would also die in the fire. He had just turned 15 a few weeks before the fire. He was classmates at Jones School with Lindsey Cross, Willie Horner, and John George. His mother died when he was an infant and he was raised by his elderly father. It’s not clear if his father was still alive at the time of his death or if he was an orphan.
